3 Threats Reported In Clarksville Schools This Week

Officials in Clarksville-Montgomery County say three threats have been investigated at schools in the last week. A joint release from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Clarksville Police Department, and the Clarksville Montgomery County School System says the threats have been handled appropriately.

Officials were made aware of a threat against Northeast High School that was circulating on social media. It was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and school officials and deemed not credible. It reportedly stemmed from a misinterpretation of an Instagram conversation regarding a personal dispute between two students.

The second threat was against Northwest High School and circulating on social media. It was also investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and school officials and deemed not credible. Police say it stemmed from a student erroneously overhearing a conversation concerning an altercation that occurred between two students.

The third threat was against West Creek High School from a student. Police say a welfare check was conducted at the student's home, and with the assistance of parents, illegal items were discovered in the student's room. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct for making the alleged statements and possession of the illegal items. Police and School Officials want to stress that NO weapons were brought on school grounds.

Sheriff John Fuson says every threat they become aware of is investigated to the fullest. Director of Schools Millard House says anytime a threat of violence has been brought to the attention of law enforcement, they take it seriously and move forward to take the necessary action.
