Frankfort Could See New Western Kentucky Faces

Residents of Kentucky will have a chance to again send a message to Frankfort this election season. There are 237 candidates for the 100 House of Representatvie seats. Nearly all area legislators are facing opposition. 16th District Representative Jason Petrie is the only one not to have a challenger.

In the 4th District, there will be a May Republican Primary between incumbent Lynn Bechler and challenger Fred Stubblefield. The winner will face Abigail Barnes in the General Election.

5th District Representative Kenny Imes is not seeking re-election and instead has turn his sights on the Calloway County Judge Executive position. Current Judge Executive Larry Elkins is running as a Republican for Imes’ House seat against Democrat David Ramey.

Voters in the 8th District will decide for a third time between Republican Walker Thomas and Democrat Jeff Taylor. Taylor won a special election in 2016, but Thomas took the General Election vote.

9th District Representative Myron Dossett will face Democratic challenger Willie Coleman in November. Coleman ran two years ago for a Hopkinsville City Council seat.

Like the 8th District, the 15th District will see a familiar ballot. Republican incumbent Melinda Prunty is being challenged by Democrat Brent Yonts. Prunty beat Yonts in the 2016 election.
