The three candidates for 7th Judicial District Commonwealth's Attorney will not face the incumbent. Commonwealth's Attorney Gail Guiling was indicted in October on several counts including Official Misconduct. However, since she is only facing charges, she still could have run for re-election.
Monday, Guiling issued a statement through her attorney, Alan Simpson, saying she would not be seeking re-election. She says the Office and the work it does is bigger than any one person. She continues by saying she will "spend the next few months defending my name against the false allegations made against me."
She encouraged everyone to vote in the upcoming election and take an active role in government. Guiling thanked everyone for the calls, messages and support over the last few months.
