Services Increasing, Finances Struggling At Trigg Hospital

Although Trigg County Hospital continues run tight financially, the hospital is seeing an increase in services. Hospital Adminstrator John Sumner told hospital board members during their recent meeting that patient visits at Trigg County Primary Care continue to show an increase.

Sumner says the number of patients using the swing beds at the hospital is also showing an increase compared to 2015-16.

He adds the number of procedures done in the lab continue to hold strong.

Meanwhile, Chief Financial Officer Nacy Butts told board members the hospital recorded a loss for December 2017.

In other business, Sumner told the board a new ambulance will be in service in the near future.
The board voted to renew the contract for one year with Align MD to staff the Trigg County Hospital Emergency Room. Emergency room physicians are paid $178 per hour, with a $2,000 per month stipend for the ER Director, who is currently Dr. Shea Godwin.
Sumner also noted the hospital received no bids for the portable office trailer that formerly housed the human resources department and the behavioral health clinic. The board voted to accept an offer from board member Joe Nichols to move the building off the hospital property in return for the building.
