Hopkinsville Police report they have charged the person that created the perception that Hopkinsville High School was in danger Thursday morning. Police have charged HHS student, 18-year old Brandon Govan, with 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening after detectives say he admitted that he started the text message that insinuated the school was in danger. The threat forced schools across the Christian County School District to go into lockdown. Police say Govan also admitted he made the threat so that he could be sent home from school.
Meanwhile, Christian County Sheriff's Captain Chris Miller reports another HHS student was arrested while deputies and police were investigating the threat. He says a 17-year old male student was taken into custody when officers entered a classroom to speak to another student about the incident and the 17-year old became disruptive and combative during the investigation.
After further investigation, Captain Miller says the 17-year old student was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, 2nd Degree Hindering Prosecution, and 2nd Degree Disorderly Conduct. He notes the juvenile was taken to the Justice Center to be processed by the Court Designated Workers Office.
