Classes Resume After Lockdowns In CCPS District

Christian County schools were in lockdown briefly Thursday morning after police received an anonymous tip about a threat. News Edge Assistant News Director Annie Catron was on the scene and reports that Hopkinsville Police notified the school district shortly after 9:00am that they had received word of a threat against Hopkinsville High School. The district then made the decision to place Hoptown High on lockdown, and as a safety precaution, to also place Hoptown Middle on lockdown.

District spokesperson, Heather Lancaster told the News Edge of the decision ten minutes at 9:45am. She says all schools in the district were briefly placed on lockdown.

The lockdowns at HHS and HMS lasted approximately an hour.

Hopkinsville Police Public Information Officer Paul Ray tells us how the morning started.

At the time of this report, Officer Ray says no one has been taken into custody or charged in connection to the threat.

Classes resumed as normal and students will remain in school Thursday.
