UPDATE – Two Dead, 19 Injured In Marshall County School Shooting

Officials report two fatalities and nineteen injuries, including 14 by gunshot, following a shooting at Marshall County High School Tuesday morning. The incident reportedly took place in the commons area at the high school, just befor 8:00am. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin tweeted that there was one confirmed fatality and multiple injuries.

The suspect is in custody and that the scene has been secured. State Police state that it was a Marshall County Deputy who apprehended the supsect.

At least two helicopters were called to the scene. There are reports that four of the victims have been transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin spoke with the News Edge following the shooting.



Bevin says the situation extremely heart breaking.



Bevin adds he was made aware of the situation shortly after it was first reported.



The News Edge spoke with Steve King, whose daughter Cameron King is a senior at Marshall County High School.



The News Edge has been told that parents are being directed to North Marshall Middle School to pick up their students.
