Teen Charged With DUI, Wanton Endangerment After Injury Wreck

A Crofton teen is facing DUI, wanton endangerment and other charges after a single-vehicle wreck Saturday night injured two passengers. The Christian County Sheriff's Office reports they responded to the crash just after 6:40pm on Old Madisonville Road at the railroad crossing where a caller stated that the truck tried to beat an oncoming train. The caller said the driver jumped the tracks and beat the train, but lost control when he landed and crashed into a ditch.

Deputies then went to a home on East Princeton Street in Crofton where they reportedly found two juvenile passengers, ages 16 and 15, with possible broken ankles and legs. They provided the name and address of the driver. The two juveniles were transported to the emergency room at Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment on injuries.

Deputies say they located the 15-year old driver, also of Crofton, at a home on Pool Mill Road with his father and grandparents. They report the juvenile had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and he admitted to driving and drinking prior to the wreck.

The 15-year old male was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, No Operators-Moped License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident – Failure to Render Aid or Assistance, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, and Reckless Driving.
