Police say a 56-year old Hopkinsville man has been charged with assaulting his live-in girlfriend after he hit her in the head with a glass wine bottle. Hopkinsville Police report officers responded to an apartment on Ferrell Street after 11:30 Sunday night where James White and his girlfriend had been drinking alcohol. Police say after the girlfriend told White she wanted to go to her residence at another location and he threw her on the bed, sat on top of her and held her hands above her head. After asking several times to let he go, White released her and then threw some of her belongings and phone outside. Police indicate White then went to the refrigerator and got out an unopened glass bottle of wine and hit his girlfriend in the head, causing a swollen area on her forehead.
