A disturbance call on Greenville Road Tuesday led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman. The Christian County Sheriff's Office responded to the call at a residence in the 2800 block of Greenville Road just after 3:45 Tuesday afternoon.
The report says the female victim stated she was in a verbal altercation with 25-year old Demerriel Harris that apparently turned physical. Deputies say she had bruising under her right eye and her right jaw bone, and had marks behind her right ear. She also told deputies she is pregnant and Harris had kicked in her the back.
Upon contact with Harris, deputies report he smelled of marijuana and admitted to smoking pot right before they arrived.
Harris was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 4th Degree Assault – Domestic Violence Minor Injury, and Public Intoxication – Controlled Substance Excludes Alcohol.
