Sun And Hard Work Helping Improve Road Conditions

Road conditions are continuing to improve with the help of some sunshine and a lot of hard work. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the sun will continue to help improve road conditions, but road crews still have their work cut out for them clearing secondary roads.

He says they are encouraging people to travel with a friend or family member who has a 4-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle.

Todd says we should start seeing more improvement by Wednesday afternoon.

He notes they are also restocking salt supplies in some of the counties to be sure they are ready for the next winter storm.

Meanwhile, Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander says roads are continuing to get a little better, but some secondary roads are still dangerous. He adds their goal for Wednesday is to try and get to all of the roads in the county.

He asks for residents to be understanding and patient with road crews.

With over half of the 487 miles of roads in Christian County hit by crews Tuesday, Judge Executive Steve Tribble says they hope to get to all the roads Wednesday.

He adds that road crews will have to go back and clean up the roads, but with temps in the lower 30s Thursday roads will continue to improve each day.

Judge Tribble says it appears residents are being patient and understand the road crews are working hard.

In Lyon County roads are also continuing to improve. Judge Executive Wade White tells us they saw a lot of improvement Tuesday.

He says crews are back out Wednesday and they hope to be able get children back in school by Friday.

Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution and allow yourself enough time to arrive at your destination.
