Magistrates Approve Sports Facility Bid

Work to construct a multi-purpose building at the Trigg County Recreation Complex will begin in the near future. Trigg County Fiscal Court approved the low bid during Tuesday's meeting.

Judge Executive Hollis Alexander discussed the recommended low bid that has been vetted by Architect Frank Williams of Ron Johnson and Associates.

Alexander says the building will mainly be used as a sports practice facility, but could have a variety of uses.

He adds the building will be versatile to accomodate several different types of events.

Alexander said the new building will be located near the high school baseball and girls softball fields at the recreation complex. He says work will begin as soon as weather allows. The building will be paid for by the Cadiz-Trigg County Parks and Recreation Commission with 25 percent of the Cadiz Restaurant tax.

Magistrates approved the Trigg County Sheriff's Department salary cap of $525,000. Sheriff Ray Burnam says that reflects a $25,000 increase from 2017.
