Comer Ready To Run For Second Congressional Term

First District Congressman James Comer is hoping voters will send him back to Washington for a second full term. Comer filed to run for re-election Tuesday in the Secretary of State's office in Frankfort.

Comer says he is pleased with the accomplishments during his first term.

He adds there have been some successes during his first year in office, but there is still more to do.

Comer won the seat by nearly 135,000 votes in the November 2016 election. He also took 72 percent of the vote to fill the unexpired term of Ed Whitfield for the end of 2016. He beat Democratic challenger, Sam Gaskins. Gaskins has again filed to run for the seat, so the two will face off in the November General Election.
