Fall Festival at the Library

Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library (HCCPL) in
partnership with the Christian County Public Schools Kindergarten Readiness Initiative will host
a Fall Festival at the library on Friday, October 28th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The event will be held
outside on and around the library grounds. It will be moved inside if the weather is unfavorable.
This free event will include crafts, games, bouncers, and a costume contest. DeeAnna Sova,
Executive Director shared, “The past few years the library has held a Haunted Library, we
wanted to change to a Fall celebration to provide something that everyone would enjoy. The
CCPS partnership works well, providing both information, education and activities all in one
location.”
The Library’s Fall Festival will be in conjunction with Christian County Public School
Kindergarten Readiness “Meet & Treat” with preschool and kindergarten teachers. Teachers
from CCPS Elementary Schools will be present to meet current and incoming students.
Kaitlynne Bolinger, CCPS School Readiness Coordinator shared, “CCPS Kindergarten
Readiness Program is excited about the partnership event. This community Fall Festival is a fun-filled event that encourages families and community partners to celebrate the fall season,
and engage in developmentally appropriate activities and games that promote kindergarten
readiness skills”. There is no pre-registration required.
This is the second year that HCCPL and CCPS have partnered together for a Fall event. The
first co-hosted festival provided the opportunity for over 450 incoming students to meet their
teachers and enjoy activities while the Library hosted over 300 attendees through their haunted
library event. DeeAnna stated, “Creating a Fall Festival provides an opportunity for CCPS to
engage with students and a community event for all of Christian County”.
HCCPL provides resources and activities for over 3500 patrons each month with an annual
circulation of 84,000 books, DVD’s, video games and more. For more information on programs,
