Victim In Saturday Oak Grove Murder Identified

An Illinois man was killed in a shooting at a gas station on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road Saturday morning.

Oak Grove Police say  37-year-old Dmytro Serbeniuk was killed during what is believed to be a robbery at the Pilot Travel Center.

Police believe the suspect was attempting to take Serbeniuk’s box truck. A witness pursued the box truck that fled the area after the shooting but lost it in Tennessee.

The suspect’s rental van was left on the lot of the gas station. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies and Oak Grove Police found Serbeniuk in the parking lot and initiated CPR, but were not able to revive him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.
