An Australian food company will be opening a facility in Christian County with the help of funding from the city. Hopkinsville City Council, during a special called meeting Tuesday night, approved a $4.5 million grant for Kitchen Food Company.
The 6-to-3 vote in favor was passed after a 12-minute closed session but no discussion during the open meeting. Matthew Handy, Chuck Crabtree, and Jamie Lienberger voted no.
The Company will be located at the 100,000-square-foot South Western Kentucky EDC Spec building on Frank Yost Lane. The grant agreement says they will be creating 925 new full-time jobs.
According to its website, Kitchen Food Company’s mission “is simple: to offer nutritious and accessible ready meals that make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone. We take pride in our commitment to quality, sourcing the finest ingredients, and crafting meals that bring the warmth of home-cooked goodness to your table.”
Natasha Francis, Don Marsh, and Doug Wilcox were not in attendance.
