Governor Andy Beshear announced the results of Kentucky’s first-ever license lottery for medical cannabis dispensaries Monday afternoon — many of which will be located within the News Edge’s listening area.
Held at the Kentucky Lottery Corporation in Louisville, 36 applicants were chosen for nine different regions.
Region 7, or the Pennyrile, is comprised by Caldwell, Christian, Hopkins, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg counties.
Mallard Club LLC will be in Christian County’s Oak Grove, while three were selected for Eddyville: ARKY Capital Investments LLC, River City Relief House LLC and DPDMJF Cannabis Holding Company LLC.
Region 8, or West Kentucky, is comprised of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, McCracken and Marshall counties.
Green4U LLC will be in Mayfield, while three were selected for Paducah: OM MED LLC, KY-CannCo LLC and Leiber Canna II LLC.
Region 11, or Green River, is made up with Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties.
Its dispensaries will be two in Henderson (OTC KY 3 LLC, Tree Soft LLC) and two in Owensboro (Bungalow House LLC and CP INVESTMENT LLC).
Region 4, or South Central, has Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson and Warren counties.
This includes Zeus Agoraios LLC in Franklin, and three units in Bowling Green: AR-MO-KY-MS Cannabis Ventures LLC, PROMO PULSE LLC and FLOWER RADAR LLC.
Beshear noted that Monday’s announcement moves the state “one step closer” to ensuring Kentuckians with serious medical conditions have access to “safe, affordable medicine they need.”
Furthermore, the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis received more than 4,000 dispensary applications leading up to this lottery. Its executive director, Sam Flynn, said lottery winners have 15 days to pay their licensing fee.
A second license lottery is slated for December 16, in order to address Regions 1 and 2: Fayette and Jefferson counties.
Kentucky Lottery President & CEO Mary Harville said her office was honored to be asked to conduct the required drawings for this initiative.
