Despite the chilly and overcast weather, a large crowd gathered on Saturday morning for the annual Hopkinsville Veterans Day Parade, demonstrating their unwavering support and gratitude for U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.
According to VFW Post 1913 Commander John Brame, numerous groups took part in the parade, which started at the War Memorial Building and concluded at the Christian County Justice Center.
click to download audioDuring the ceremony on the front steps of the Justice Center, Shannon Lane, Director of Military Affairs for the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, expressed appreciation to attendees for honoring veterans and conveyed his gratitude to the veterans for their service and sacrifice.
After Lane’s remarks, Brame led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by the Presentation of Colors and the singing of the National Anthem.

click to download audioDuring the ceremony, trophies were awarded to Indian Hills Elementary School for the school with the most participation and to University Heights Academy for the most spirit.
After the ceremony, veterans were invited to VFW Post #1913 to enjoy chili and grilled cheese sandwiches.
In addition, Brame extended an invitation to everyone to attend the Veterans Day Service at the VFW at 11:00 Monday morning.
