City of Hopkinsville officials announced Monday that a groundbreaking for Fire Station 5 will be held at 10:30 AM Friday on 101 Walton Way.
Considered a critical step toward enhancing public safety and emergency response in the community, all residents, local leaders and community partners have an open invitation to this milestone.
For the first time in more than two decades, this is an expansion of fire protection facilities for the city, bringing further commitment to property, well-being and life-saving measures to citizens. An extra fire station allows for the Hopkinsville Fire Department to improve response times, while offering increased coverage.
Mayor J.R. Knight said that the addition of Fire Station 5 “demonstrates the city’s proactive approach to meeting the needs of a growing community, and it reinforces commitment to providing the highest level of emergency response and support for residents and businesses.”
Hopkinsville Fire Chief Steve Futrell said the new station “better positions” his department to protect and serve the community, and that it will enhance both reach and resources for swift, effective response.
On Friday, attendees will hear from city officials, including the mayor and fire chief, who will share more about the vision and importance of this expansion for Hopkinsville’s future.
