August brought with it a busy month, but also a full department, for the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office.

That’s according to Sheriff Aaron Acree, who recently told the fiscal court that the swearing in of Deputy Lewis Armstrong completed the staff, and that Armstrong was interested in giving 25 years to the community.

A four-legged friend also joined the team in K-9, Rex. A one-year-old Belgian Malinois, Deputy Kenny Vincent is his handler, and both recently went through extensive training in Louisiana. Rex is certified in human tracking, suspect apprehension and narcotics detection. Both Rex and Vincent, Acree said, will spend a lot of time out in the community.

As for calls for service:
+ 41 cases were opened by deputies
+ 20 arrests were made
+ 38 citations were issued
+ 74 calls were taken for legal advice
+ 40 papers were served
+ 83 traffic stops were initiated
+ 61 verbal warnings were issued
+ 25 accidents were handled, with no injury
+ Eight accidents were answered, with injury
+ Only 43 animal complaints were heard, and Acree said those continue to lower
+ Three Crime Stoppers tips were received, that led to pertinent and key fugitive information
+ 35 calls were answered for reckless drivers
+ Four calls involved suicidal ideations

And, in all, more than 670 calls were dispatched to the department through the month.

Acree’s next report will come in October, and will detail September.
