The Kentucky Department of Agriculture named three Honorary Commissioners, recognized two Friends of Raising Hope, and honored three farm families for their dedication to farm safety during the 2nd annual Farmer Appreciation Day September 18th.
Farmer Appreciation Day was held at Western Kentucky University's LD Brown Ag Expo Center, with Kentucky Department of Agriculture Safety Director Dale Dobson and Agriculture Jonathon Shell naming , Alan Watts, and Honorary Commissioners of Agriculture.
Dr. Cheryl Whit presented the Friend of Raising Hope award to Dale Dobson's wife Debra for all of her and support of Dale during his career at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
Agriculture Commissioner Jonathon Shell presented the Friend of Raising Hope award to Dr. Cheryl Whit for her many years of work and dedication to the Raising Hope program.
Dale Dobson presented one of three Raising Hope Farm Family of the Year awards to the Tucker family from Warren County.
Larue County farmer Ryan Bivens presented the Raising Hope Farm Family of the Year award to Mike and Mary Bach from Bath County.
And Dale Dobson and Commissioner Jonathon Shell presented the Raising Hope Farm Family of the Year award to the Bivens family from Larue County.
The 2nd annual Farmer Appreciation Day included safety and rescue demonstrations, booths to provide farmers and others with information about farm and health safety, a career fair for youth, and several other activities.
