A native of Louisville, KY, she was born August 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Johnston Miller and the late Mary Garnett (Parrish) Miller.

Marilyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 12, baptized by her grandfather Bro. Mack Parrish in Paducah. After graduating from Taylorsville High School in 1952, she attended the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She met Bill Rowlett when he was in Medical School in Louisville. They married in 1955 and were eventually blessed with four children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

After living in Germany for three years and serving in the USAF they moved to Memphis, TN, where Dr. Rowlett completed his residency. From there they moved to Bowling Green and began medical practice from 1962 to 1968, then moved to Hopkinsville. As a homemaker, Marilyn raised Mary Lane, Betsy, John, and Janey through the usual teenage situations to become responsible adults and parents themselves. She was a delight to her grandchildren and even taught her granddaughters how to play the piano.

Marilyn used her nursing talents to assist Bill in eye surgeries. They went on many overseas medical mission trips to Africa, Asia, and South America from 1967 to 2006. She deeply loved the Lord and served him in many ways. She taught Sunday school classes, led prayer groups, counseled younger ladies, and worked in the church nursery. She was known for cooking and giving away homemade sourdough bread. One of her favorite activities was participating in history and literature club, she wrote many interesting papers to present to the ladies.

Her smile was radiant and reflected an inner peace given by the Holy Spirit. We truly believe Jesus will welcome her into Heaven with a “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Miller; and her sister, Betty Nichols.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Dr. Bill Rowlett, Hopkinsville, KY; her son, John (Sheila) Rowlett, Jefferson, GA; her daughters, Mary Lane (Gordon) Boh, Hopkinsville, KY, Besty (Glenn) Hackemer, Silverthorn, CO, and Janey (Cory) Pitts, Panama City, FL; her grandchildren, Dr. Stephen Boh, Stephanie (Thomas) Estes, Ashley Boh, John Hackemer, Ryan Hackemer, Wesley Hackemer, Will Rowlett, Katie Rowlett, Emma Sue Rowlett, Charles Pitts, and Elizabeth Pitts; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Nathan, Abigail, and Chase Estes.
