Man Charged With Possession Of Drugs During Traffic Stop

A passenger in a vehicle stopped on North Drive for speeding was arrested and charged with drug possession Friday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Paul Thomas of Hopkinsville for speeding in a school zone and found him not to have insurance and his license to be suspended.

During the stop, Paul Thomas’s passenger 49-year-old Gerald Thomas of Hopkinsville was found to have active warrants for probation violation and failure to appear.

Police say after Gerald Thomas was arrested on the warrants he was found to have three fentanyl pills.

Gerald Thomas was charged with possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Paul Thomas was also arrested and charged with speeding, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and no insurance.
