Genesis Express, Inc. in Cadiz, one of the five nonprofits honored at the Tennessee Valley Authority North Nonprofit Mission Award Luncheon on Thursday, has been named the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year.
The mission of Genesis Express focuses on enhancing community members’ lives by offering programs and support in education, culture, health, social services, and recreation for all ages.
The TVA North Region Mission Award honors nonprofit partners for their shared commitment to improving the Tennessee Valley region. Each nominee was nominated by a TVA Community Relations team member serving the North Region, based on their contributions to their community.
Each nonprofit received a $5,000 donation and a promotional video to feature their work, aid in fundraising, and raise awareness of their cause. As this year’s winner, Genesis Express will receive a total of $15,000—$10,000 in funding and an additional $5,000 for staff training and networking opportunities.
In a written statement, TVA Director of Government and Community Relations for the North Region Gary Harris said that TVA and the nonprofits being recognized this year share a commitment to improving local communities and enhancing residents’ quality of life. He congratulated Genesis Express, Inc. for being named the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year, and added that their work significantly impacts the local community.
