A Hopkinsville man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after a wreck on Sheffield Downs Boulevard Sunday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Matthew McGowan collided with a light pole and he drove off parking the vehicle in a nearby parking lot and attempted to walk home but was stopped by law enforcement.
He was reportedly barely able to stand upright and smelled of alcohol.
He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree criminal mischief, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
