American Legion Post 74 will formally retire more than 100 flags that are flying in the Field of Flags on Saturday, July 6th, at the corner of Main Street and U.S. 68-80 in Cadiz.
Curt Holmes with American Legion Post 74 says they were pleased that more than 100 flags were purchased this year to honor and remember veterans and active duty military members.
Holmes says each of the flags represents a special story of a veteran or active duty military member, with family and friends able to save the flags or donate them to be given away by the post.
He says flags will be retired during a brief ceremony on Saturday morning at 10:00.
Holmes adds flags can be picked up at the John L. Street Library after the post has time to properly fold each of them and label them.
The Field of Flags stands each year in the park near the intersection of U.S. 68 and Main Street in Cadiz.
