Laura Jane (Knight) Voils, age 86, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Continue Care Hospital at Baptist Health Paducah, Kentucky.
She was born in Glens Fork, Adair County, Kentucky, on November 8, 1937, to George Rufus Knight, a tenant farmer, and Hattie (Melson) Knight.
Laura attended Russell County High School for three-and-a-half years and graduated from Adair County High School in 1957. She married Jimmie Logan Voils on December 22, 1956.
She worked at Mother’s Cookie Co. in Louisville for 15 years and as an assembler for GE at Appliance Park in Louisville for 25 years. After their retirement, Laura and Jimmie moved to Trigg County to be closer to their daughter, Donna Wimsatt. Laura was of the Methodist faith and attended services at Bethel Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jimmie Voils, in 2020, and their beloved daughter, Donna Jean (Voils) Wimsatt, in 2016. A brother, Joe Knight, and three infant brothers also preceded her in death.
She is survived by nephews, Clinton Knight and Cory Whayne Knight; several cousins and many friends, including special friends, Belinda Holland of Cadiz and Mike and Leeanne Murrell.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
