Wanton Endangerment and Criminal Abuse Among Indictments Returned by Grand Jury

Several indictments were returned by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday, including on charges of wanton endangerment, strangulation, and criminal abuse.

The Christian County Grand Jury issued a true bill on Stephon Northington on charges of fleeing or evading police in a vehicle, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment of a police officer, several traffic-related offenses, and five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

The charges stem from April 12 when Kentucky State Police attempted to stop Northington on Fort Campbell Boulevard in the area of Stewart Lumber Company and he fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended in a field off of U.S. 68 near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way where Northington was taken into custody.

A true bill was returned on K’jawaun Major of Hopkinsville on charges of robbery and domestic violence assault stemming from February 26. Major is accused of hitting someone in the head with a handgun on East 18th Street and threatened to shoot a witness who tried to intervene. He was arrested by Hopkinsville Police who also reported Major took property from both victims.

Leonard Oglesby of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of strangulation, fleeing from police on foot, assault, and violation of a foreign emergency protective order/domestic violence order from April 13. According to Hopkinsville Police, Oglesby hit his girlfriend in the head and strangled her with his arm on Summit Street on April 13. When officers arrived, he allegedly ran out the back door before he was taken into custody.

A true bill was also returned on Ashlee Mann of Hopkinsville on a single count of first-degree criminal abuse that occurred between April 22 and April 24. Mann was arrested and charged after Hopkinsville Police responded to South Kentucky Avenue to investigate burns on a 13-year old child’s hand. Police said the investigation determined Mann had burned the child’s hand as punishment and made the child lie to medical staff that it was an accident.
