Rachel Robson isn’t the most vocal person on the field but she embodies the characteristics of a leader. It’s those qualities that have seen her be named captain of the sports she played at Heritage Christian Academy and be the latest Chick-fil-A ‘Triple-A’.

Now a graduate of HCA, Robson played basketball and softball and was a captain of the co-ed soccer team.

“When I was about three years old, I started playing soccer at the YMCA and I’ve been playing soccer ever since,” she said of her start in soccer. “When I got into the seventh grade, I started playing basketball”

She’s been a three-sport standout while pulling down straight As in high school and taking dual credit classes.

The grit and toughness Rachel displayed in soccer carried over to her work ethic in the classroom.

“I use my nights to do all my school work and try to utilize my study halls in school and any free time I have in school to do my school work. I’ve had to stay more organized and keep up with my school work more while also going to practices and trying to maintain my work ethic,” she said.

Rachel was also a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society as well as the Kentucky Youth Assembly.

While not wanting to make it a career, politics have always interested Rachel.

“It’s interesting to learn about, and it was really cool to sit through all those (KYA) meetings and everything just to see the environment and dynamic of that setting.”

Last week, Rachel was one of 30 members of the 2024 Heritage Christian Academy graduating class.

“It was a privilege to graduate from a small school because you build longer-lasting relationships and people stay at our school a little longer,” she said. “I’ve grown up with some of my teammates ever since middle school and I’ve really built a great relationship with them and it’s also helped with team chemistry.”

Rachel said one teacher in particular had an impact on her while moving through high school.

“Laura Herrell, my biology teacher. I’ve had her since the middle school academic team. We’ve had a lot of good talks about my career and what I want to do in life. She’s just inspired me to do great things.”

Up next for Rachel is Western Kentucky University to study exercise science and keep sports in the forefront.

“I want to become a physical therapist and maybe be involved in sports medicine. The big goal would be to work my way up to a professional team and work in the NFL,” she said while also crafting a backup plan.

“Keeping it realistic, I think it would be fun to open my own practice here or maybe Bowling Green.”
