Fort Campbell’s Adam Harrington pitched 3 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball and broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run triple at the plate in the bottom of the third inning as the Fort Campbell Falcons advanced to Monday’s 8th District semifinals with an 8-3 win over the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors Saturday afternoon at Christian County High School.

The win was the first 8th District tournament win since 1999 when the Falcons defeated Trigg County to advance to the district tournament semifinals. The game was also the first 8th District tournament game in the history of the program for the Warriors.

Heritage got on the board first in the game. Caden Gresham was hit by a pitch to open the game. He advanced to second on a walk to Cadyn Travis. Gresham stole third and then scored on a balk call against HCA pitcher Ethan Miles.

Fort Campbell came right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Noah Herron.

In the bottom of the third, a pair of HCA errors set the stage for Harrington’s go-ahead triple. Harrington later stole home to make it 4-1. The rally was capped off by an RBI double from Noah Herron that made it 5-1.

The Falcons then extended the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Another Warrior fielding error opened the door for Fort Campbell to add three more runs in the inning as the lead grew to 8-1.

Heritage rallied in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs to cut the lead to 8-3. Ethan Miles aided his own cause with an RBI single. The Warriors had the bases loaded with two outs but Falcon reliever Thomas Roach was able to get Henry Bullard to fly out to end the inning.

Roach then closed out the game and the Warriors’ season by setting them down without a hit in the top of the seventh.

Fort Campbell scored their 8 runs on just 4 hits, taking full advantage of four HCA errors. Falcon pitching limited the Warriors to just three hits for the day.

Noah Herron led the Falcons going 2-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Michael Anderson and Adam Harrington had one hit each for Fort Campbell. Harrington also had 3 RBIs.

Ethan Miles went 2-2 to lead the Warriors. Bradley Boyd had the other hit for the Warriors.

Adam Harrington got the win for the Falcons. He struck out two and walked two.

HCA’s Ethan Miles gave a gutty performance on the mound, going the distance, giving up 8 runs, only four of which were earned, on four hits, striking out 11 and walking just two.

Fort Campbell improves to 9-22 and advances to Monday night’s semifinals, where the Falcons will take on top-seeded University Heights.

Heritage Christian’s season comes to an end with a record of 9-16.
