Competency Evaluation Slated in South Virginia Street Assault Case

A second competency hearing could be coming for a Hopkinsville man charged with a 2022 assault on South Virginia Street.

36-year-old Isaac Benjamin is charged with first-degree assault stemming from an altercation with a woman who was flown to a Nashville hospital following the alleged assault.

Benjamin has a September trial date, but his defense attorney Eric Bearden said a mental competency hearing may come first.
