A home that has been converted to apartments on South Campbell Street was badly damaged in a fire Saturday morning.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says when they arrived the back of the structure was engulfed in flames with smoke coming from the roof.
Most of the people inside the building were able to get out before firefighters arrived with only a woman and two cats having to be helped out of the structure.
The home located at 1306 South Campbell Street has been converted into five apartments.
A woman received oxygen and was checked out by Hopkinsville EMS but was not transported to the hospital Rogers says adding the cause of the fire has not been determined.
