City Celebrates Retiring Firefighter, Welcomes 6 New

Before conducting official business, Hopkinsville City Council bid fairwell to a Fire Chief and welcomed several new recruits. Tuesday night, Hopkinsville Fire Chief, Steve Futrell says Battalion Chief Chip Renshaw will be missed.

Renshaw was presented a plaque and his helmet, but Futrell says his legacy will continue on.

Mayor JR Knight administered the oath of office to Carlos Beltran, Terry Cansler, Francesco Lionetti, Robert Scott, Anthony Hillery, and Andrew Entsminger.

Meanwhile, City Council approved the second readings of ordinances renaming Quarry Street to Pastor CE Timberlake Way, an operational budget amendment, and the code of ordinance supplement.

In other business, Susan Fernandez was reappointed to the Board of Ethics, and Rich Cooper was reappointed as an alternate member. Gwenda Motley was reappointed to the Hopkinsville-Christian County Planning Commission. Thomas Wood was reappointed to the Hopkinsville Cable Television Oversight Authority.
