Eugene Harned, 70, of Hopkisnville

Eugene Harned age 70, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with Brother Donnie Rogers officiating and burial to follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The family has entrusted Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home to handle the arrangements.

Mr. Harned was born on January 30, 1954, in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of the late Howard Herman and Gayla Wade Harned. He retired as an automotive technician after 50-plus years of service. Eugene was a member of the Highland Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief. He also served as a Cub Master for Boy Scouts for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and racing cars. He attended Highland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Stephanie Young.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Bonlou Trotter Harned of Hopkinsville, KY; his sons, John Harned (Kim) of Hopkinsville, KY, Howard Harned of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughters, Gayla Houchens (Willie) of Hopkinsville, KY, Pamala Pickens (Shawn) of Frankfort, KY; his sister, Becky Saddler of Hopkinsville, KY; and his seven grandchildren, Abby, Spencer, Allie, Gracie, Matt, Zane and Zack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Hospice, 220 Burley Ave, Hopkinsville, KY 42240; and/or Highland Fire Department, 4850 Butler Rd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240; and/or Highland Presbyterian Church, 201 Butler Rd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
