Attorney Again Tells Court a Plea Deal Could Happen Soon in Petsch Lane Shooting Case

For the second straight appearance in Christian County Circuit Court, the attorney for a Hopkinsville man charged with shooting a woman last year said a resolution in the case could be close.

Jeffrey Proffitt is charged with first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon after he was accused of shooting a woman in the leg during an argument at a Petsch Lane residence last June.

As he did in a court appearance last month, Proffitt’s attorney, Jarrod Jackson, told Judge John Atkins that a plea deal could happen soon.
