Kentucky’s Workforce The Focus Of Eye-Opener Breakfast

The first eye-opener breakfast of 2024 for the Christian County Chamber of Commerce focused on workforce and education on Thursday morning.

Charles Aull, Executive Director of the Kentucky Chamber Center Policy and Research, shared that between 2000 and 2021 – the state’s workforce participation rate decreased by three percent.

He added the labor market challenge will not solve itself.

Beth Davisson, Senior Vice-President for the Kentucky Chamber Foundation, said in 2023 they trained 100 employers in better practices of how they hire and retain employees coming out of incarceration or recovery.

Additionally, Cody Noffsinger of the local Workforce Development Committee shared that the group will now be named Pre-K To Business, as they will focus on solving workforce issues by reaffirming their support of education.

The breakfast also featured a discussion with Christian County Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel and Board Chair Tom Bell on ‘The Future of Workplace Learning.’
