Samuel Lee Conver, 74, passed away at his Cadiz, Kentucky home with his wife Beverly at his side on January 16, 2024.

Sam, or Lee, depending on when you knew him in life, was born to Samuel Willis and Sara Jane Conver in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from St. Cecilia School and Spalding Institute and then attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.
In the 1970s, he and his first wife, Mary, moved their young family to the Baltimore, Maryland area where he lived and worked for many years, first rehabbing homes in the inner city, then moving on to other occupations along the way. He volunteered for several years with other motorcycle enthusiasts to put on the annual “Operation Santa Claus Motorcycle Toy Run” that benefitted needy children.
He married Bev on October 9, 1993, and they moved 13 years ago to Cadiz where they have enjoyed their garden, attracting to their feeders nearly every species of bird found in their field guides, and hosting most of the hummingbirds residing in the state of Kentucky. He enjoyed working in his woodworking shop and joining Bev in the kitchen as they prepared new and different recipes. He could surprise a waiter taking his order when he handed them a small card with the recipe for his perfect dry Manhattan.
Asked, how are you? his response often was, “Just lovin’ life.”
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, daughter Sayshan (Steve) Conver White and his son Samuel Calhoun (Karen), five grandchildren, his stepson Gordon (Kelly) Browne and stepdaughter Edie (Ken) Lang, and five stepgrandchildren. His brother Mike, sisters Kath and Ann, and two nephews also survive him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
