The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events planned in Trigg County Monday have been cancelled.
Genesis Express President George Radford says the decision to cancel the events was made Friday due to the forecast that is calling for bitter cold temperatures and snow. Radford will join the WKDZ Country Club Monday at 8:30 to speak about the importance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the impact of Dr. King’s work in Trigg County.
The March was scheduled to take place from Renaissance Stage in downtown Cadiz to Bloomfield Baptist Church. Randolph Crenshaw was scheduled to be the pre-march speaker, with Bobby Acree scheduled to the be speaker at Bloomfield Baptist Church.
Although there was a secondary plan in place to just hold the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service at Bloomfield Baptist Church, Radford said Genesis Express decided Friday to cancel the march and program due to the winter weather and extremely cold temperatures.
