Man Out On Bond On Manslaughter Charge Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man free on bond while awaiting a trial for manslaughter was arrested after he ran from law enforcement on Saturday night.

Police said they tried to stop 23-year-old Daequon Forte after he failed to use a turn signal on North Drive and then fled at speeds of 120 mph.

The pursuit came to an end on Kentucky 1682 near Dawson Springs Road when he reportedly jumped out of the moving car and ran.

Police said Forte was quickly apprehended and his car went on to collide with a police cruiser and a guardrail.

Forte was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and reckless driving, with more charges pending.

Forte was indicted by a Christian County grand jury on a second-degree manslaughter charge and a drug trafficking charge, accused of distributing to the victim a controlled substance that ultimately led to their death. .

At the time of his bond reduction last May, Forte was ordered to be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor, and live with his mother in Clarksville while awaiting trial.
