Planning is already underway for the 48th Annual and 2024 Trigg County Country Ham Festival, but one big change is on the way.

Thursday afternoon, Renaissance On Main Director and Ham Festival Committee Chair Brianna Hyde announced that — since the celebration is a large undertaking that takes months of organization and allocation of resources — it’s time to bring all on board.

In order to gain input from several business owners, organizations and community members, Hyde is hosting a 1-hour informational meeting at 5:30 PM February 1 in the Renaissance Center.

From there, her office will be accepting applications for a reformed Ham Festival Committee — one that she hopes will have 15 people from various sectors of the community in its ranks.

The application can be found on our websites, but some noted requirements moving forward include:

— The ability to recruit a minimum of three sponsors;
— The ability to attend a minimum of five committee meetings prior to the weekend;
— The ability to work a minimum of one shift at the committee booth during the festival, or assist with a vendor;
— The ability and willingness to bring positive energy and ideas to the table;
— And the ability to work well in a team atmosphere.

The committee will immediately be comprised of Hyde, the Cadiz City Clerk as its treasurer, the Cadiz Assistant City Clerk as its secretary, one Public Works member, one Cadiz Police Department member — on top of the 15 community members.

The committee typically meets the first Wednesday of each month, with other dates added as needed.
