Nancy Sue Stevens, 81, of Crofton went peacefully to her heavenly home on Friday morning, December 29, 2023.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Crofton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Crofton Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Gifford, Rev. Kim Combs, and Rev. Larry Phaup officiating. Burial will follow in Old Berg Cemetery in Mannington. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Crofton is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Caldwell County, KY she was born December 31, 1941, the daughter of the late Frank Mitchell and Martha Clayton Mitchell. She worked at SpeedQueen for many years. She was a member of the Crofton Baptist Church. She and her husband started East Kentucky Missions, a non-profit organization to help the people of Eastern Kentucky, in 1992.
Survivors include her husband: Gene Stevens, a graduate of CCHS class of 1963; her children: Joyce Hancock of Madisonville, KY, Shirley McLemore of Madisonville, KY, Trish Smith of Madisonville, KY, Brenda (Terry) Hendren of Grove, OK, Curtis Eugene (Joni) May of Madisonville, KY, Susan Mullins of Morton’s Gap, KY, Jeffery McClain of Madisonville, KY, Connie Sue (Eric) Pharris of Crofton, KY, Thomas Albert (Peggy) Stevens of Central City, KY, and Jason Michael Stevens of Mt. Vernon, IN; her sisters: Imogene Farthing and Phyllis Hensarling; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
