Philip Latham, Sr., 70, of Hopkinsville

Philip “Phil” Latham, Sr., age 70, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, due to a motor vehicle accident in Walton, KY. The family has chosen cremation with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mr. Latham was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on June 2, 1953, the son of the late Earl McDonald Latham and Ruby Dell Knight Latham. Phil had the opportunity to touch so many lives within the addiction and mental health community. Phil was an excellent clinician who held a variety of roles during his time at Pennyroyal Center. He was extremely passionate about the clients he served and dedicated himself to accessibility to behavioral health services for all individuals. He had a huge heart and was fully committed to the mission to serve. Phil began employment in March of 1999 as a Substance Use Therapist. He held that role until November of 2011 when he then became the Coordinator of our Phoenix Recovery Program in the Christian County Jail. In June of 2012, he transitioned to become the Program Manager of our Genesis Program. In July of 2016, he retired from the Pennyroyal Center but continued working in other capacities to serve some of the most vulnerable individuals. In 2017 Phil joined the New Seasons Team where he retired from in 2020, but returned shortly after as a clinical supervisor and mentor for the counseling staff at Covington Metro Treatment Center. He focused on building up the counselor’s abilities and helped them to become more confident and competent counselors for their patients. Phil was seen as a mentor, teacher, and friend to those who knew him in the field. He was a special man and he will truly be missed.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lynne Hawkins Latham of Hopkinsville; his son, Philip Earl Latham, Jr. (Danielle) of Ohio; his daughter, Christina Marie Latham (Greg) of Ohio; his sister, Jane Springer (Louis) of Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Trinity, Grace, Earl, and Emmalyn.
