Donald Clampet, 92, of Hopkinsville

Donald Gene Clampet passed away at his home in Hopkinsville, KY on Monday, December 18 at the age of 92. He was born on March 4, 1931, in Sesser, IL to Howard and Chesta Clampet. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Eunice (Junkins) Clampet who passed away on August 10, 2020. They were married for 69 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carrol Dean Clampet.

Donald is survived by his sons, Daniel Clampet of Hopkinsville, KY and Glenn (Mona) Clampet of Cadiz, KY. Also surviving are granddaughters Heather (Landon) Schrock of Washburn, MO and Hillary (Justin) Jernigan of Franklin, KY plus great-grandchildren Holden, Evangeline, Owen, Eli, Samuel, and William Schrock and a brother, Gerald (Mary) Clampet of East Norriton, PA.

After being in the Air Force Special Weapons Command in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Agriculture Education, and then a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois.

Don was a respected leader in the agriculture industry in both Illinois and Kentucky. He taught vocational agriculture in two Illinois high schools for a few years followed by a short time with the University of Illinois Agricultural Extension Farm Business Management Program. His career in Kentucky included the University of Kentucky Agricultural Extension Farm Business Management Program, Pennyrile Citizens Bank, and Garnett Farms.

Don and Glenna were members of Hillcrest Baptist Church beginning in 1967 where he was both a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Joe Bufford officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
