Military Families Rally Together To Support Those Affected By Clarksville Tornado

As recovery efforts continue in portions of Clarksville, Tennessee following an EF-3 tornado last weekend, many neighbors are in need this holiday season.

Fort Campbell’s USO will accept donations to help the military community affected by the storm, according to executive director Ann Jarvis.

The local USO is hosting its annual Holly Jolly event on Friday, which serves as a toy distribution day for military families in need each Christmas season. Jarvis said support from the Fort Campbell community this year means they have extra toys to hand out to families affected by the tornado.

Last weekend’s tornado first touched down on Fort Campbell just north of Sabre Airfield. A total of nearly a thousand homes were impacted by the tornado, including 114 homes being destroyed and 268 homes sustaining major damage. The storm claimed three lives and injured at least 62 people, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.
