With a theme centered around celebrating hometown heroes the Cadiz Christmas Parade helped culminate a full day of events to kick off the holiday season in downtown Cadiz.

More than fifty entries made up the parade that included brightly lit utility trucks, an aluminum reindeer and sleigh made by Wabash, and plenty of floats celebrating and honoring hometown heroes. The parade was sponsored by Pennyrile Electric and the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. All the entries fees for the parade raised more than $1,100 and will be donated to the Trigg County EMS Toys for Tots program.

The parade was led by the Trigg County Chamber Youth Leadership Class and the Trigg County Wildcat mascot who was decked out in holiday attire. Close behind was Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Jason Strickland and his family a red convertible Mustang.

The HES EnergyNet Truck won the Best Use of Lights category.

The City of Cadiz float called “Our Heroes Drive Tractors” that an antique tractor and barn won the Best Use of Theme honor.

The Trigg County Public Schools Transportation Department won first place in the float division with their brightly decorated school bus.

Second place went to Trigg County High School Softball team float.

Third place was awarded to the Wabash sled and reindeer with Mrs Claus.

The Trigg County High School Band under the direction of Andrew Mroch and the Trigg County Middle School Band led by Bethany Allen played a variety of Christmas songs to add to the holiday cheer.

And Santa Claus made his traditional appearance in Cadiz as he rode on top of the Cadiz Fire Truck to wish everyone a merry Christmas.

Cadiz firefighters walked along side the fire truck handing out candy that was sponsored by HES EnergyNet and the City of Cadiz.
