Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 19-year-old Andrew Watts for an expired registration plate and he slowed down, drove onto the sidewalk, and turned onto another road before stopping.

Officers could reportedly see marijuana in the vehicle and after a search more marijuana and an open bottle of alcohol were found.

Watts had a permit and was in the vehicle with an adult who did not have an active license.

Watts was arrested and charged with careless driving, second-degree fleeing or evading police, instructional permit violations, no registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
