Leo Barney Parkin, 94, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 11:14 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his residence.
No services are scheduled. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Los Angeles, California he was born May 12, 1929, the son of the late Leland Hatch Parkin and Lucy Barney Parkin. He married Marilyn Johnson and they raised four children. Leo proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and was a Mechanical Engineer. He was a member of the Hopkinsville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bill Parkin and Bob Parkin.
He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Parkin; sons: Craig (Sandra) Parkin of Anacortes, Washington; Brett (Sherri) Parkin of Vancouver, Washington; daughters: Beverly (Emmett) Johnson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Sharon Allenbach of Puylallup, Washington; brother: Clem Parkin of Provo, Utah; sister: Kay (Dee) Jacobs of Provo, Utah. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild on the way.
