James C. “Poppy” Petty, 87, of Hopkinsville, died at 6:59 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke, KY with Rev. Dan Huck officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Newstead, KY he was born December 9, 1935, the son of the late James Edgar Petty and Ruby Cantrell Petty. He earned an Ag-engineering degree from the University of Kentucky and went on to work as an engineer. He spent many years selling and servicing CNC Machines and took great pride in the service and support he provided to his customers. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
