Communities nationwide will soon begin preparations for events commemorating the 250th anniversary of America’s establishment.
Here locally, the celebration starts Sunday afternoon at 2:00, when the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution officially dedicates a new bench in downtown Cadiz.
Chapter members Geoff Baggett and Steve Mallory shared with Your News Edge that the new bench can be found near the Trigg County Justice Center along Main Street. Mallory said the bench has been up for a little while.
Baggett said they hope this leads to a big celebration, similar to the Bicentennial in 1976.
Mallory added their chapter was able to fundraise to put this project together.
Baggett said the service on Sunday will feature many local and regional Sons of the American Revolution members.
