While gas prices are stable in some parts of western Kentucky, the price at the pump has dropped in Trigg and Christian counties compared to last week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, gas prices in West Central Kentucky were $3.06 a gallon — the same as last week and 24 cents lower than a year ago. Four years ago, it was $2.34.
According to the Gas Buddy app, gas prices in Trigg County were $3.39 at the interstate, and $3.04 in Cadiz.
In Christian County, gas prices in Hopkinsville ranged from $2.81 to $3.19, $3.19 in Crofton, and $2.99 in Oak Grove.
Across the state, prices were $2.92 in Owensboro, $2.99 in Paducah, $3.08 in Bowling Green, and $3.28 in Louisville.
Gas prices continue to trend downward due to lower demand and the cost of oil, which has fallen over the past few days to the low-$80’s per barrel. Today’s national average of $3.49 is 33 cents less than a month ago and 27 cents less than a year ago.
The price of oil rose briefly due to concerns that the Israel-Hamas war could escalate soon as Israel prepares for more ground operations. Additionally, the total domestic commercial crude supply increased by 1.4 million barrels to 421.1 million barrels.
